MidMarket Executives Find Cloud Computing Hazy at Best

While cloud computing may be the hot topic in the enterprise, a new survey of 210 executives from companies with 100 to 1,000 employees, conducted by Virtacore Systems, a provider of a cloud computing platform aimed at midmarket customers, finds little appreciation or understanding of cloud computing.

The survey, whose participants were made up of three-quarters business executives and one-quarter IT professionals, highlights just how much missionary work the IT industry needs to do before midmarket customers are ready to buy into cloud computing.

In particular, the survey shows that midmarket executives have a surprisingly high appreciation of security concerns, and not much to work with in terms of available budget.
